I frowned and cocked my head to stare at him. He still calls His people today. And the Shofar Blew: Book Review iWasJonathan Jennifer not real name reckons Francine Rivers is the best Christian novelist out there. It's not a roman a clef but might as well be one. Author: Francine Rivers SKU: 2897338 In the Old Testament, God called His people to action with the blast of the shofar, a rams horn. by Francine Rivers (Author) 2,367 ratings. A relevant and timely novel by the New York Times bestselling author of Redeeming Love and The Masterpiece. A Voice in the Wind, the first book in the trilogy, introduces readers to Hadassah, a young Jewish girl captured and sold into slavery but still holding firm to her faith in God. The most frightening thing about this novel is not how it shows the steady decline away from God and into the hell of self, but that it reflects actual situations. And the Shofar Blew: A Novel (The Contemporary Christian Fiction Story of a Young Minister and His Wife Set in Central California) Paperback June 1, 2013. Now, since Rivers is a romance writer, there is of course a restored romance at the end.but it does not come without cost. Pride has to be chopped down and cast into the fire, forever. The motivations of the pastor make sense and there is no deus ex machina to make everything back to happy-normal at the end. The country church booms and becomes a megachurch.is the blessing from God? Or from someone else? It is well plotted, and even frightening although it is no _Oath_.

As with most Xtian fic by Rivers, the gentle beginning with the hack wordage is just a ruse! It is a story about how little by little people can slip into sin.the Devil slides in the needle without the characters noticing.

I thought it would be like a James Herriot novel.a gentle, 600-page long story about the families centered around a country church. This book, as most of the Christian fiction by this author, starts out fairly plebian, even mediocre.
